My First Earring

I remember shortly after high school and I was still living at home with my parents, I got my ear pierced. During that time of social acceptance, it was a rather bold thing to do for a guy, but I always thought of myself as rather progressive. I was a progressive child living at home with the conservative Brady Bunch.

I am not sure of the exact circumstance but when I arrived home, I didn’t have my house key so mom opened the door. She looked at me and said “Ugh!, you ruined your good looks!”, and then she turned and walked away. She was not at all happy.

When my dad arrived home and entered the house, she said to him “Look what your son did!” My dad looked at me, didn’t say anything and simply smiled a big cheeser. He apparently took it in stride 🙂
