Eurythmics wrote and performed the song titled The Miracle of Love in 2009. It’s a beautiful song and has deep meaning. I dig on deep meaning. Give me something I need to actually think about. Don’t simply place an overcooked burger patty on a tired old bun and set it on a plate for my consumption. That’s too easy to do, and not appetizing at all to consume. Whet my appetite. Make that burger juicy! Don’t overcook it. Add grilled onions, spices, and other condiments to the patty and bun before and after cooking. Then set it on my plate.
This is what I want from art too, and music is no exception. If you are blessed with senses that allow you to hear music, then actually listen to it. If you are blessed to read documented words, really read them. Both music and lyrics were created for a reason, and the reason is generally hidden with deep meaning.
I believe education lacks an untapped purpose of our human senses. The ability to see, smell, hear, touch, and taste are regarded as a given upon birth. Unhindered ability to use our senses is the ‘norm’, and anything short of full sensory usage is the anomaly, the unknown variable that requires a patch in the code.
This is where we unwittingly place limits on ourselves as a species. Think of the multitude of roads we can investigate with our brain. We are a thinking species, we can reason and respond accordingly, and each person does this at an individual depth. And there is depth.
So why can’t there be a substantial level of depth and complexity to any one of our senses?
I’m not referring to a strong ‘intuition’ either. I don’t even know what I am referring to. But I am referring to something that I think requires further investigation on my part, or anyone else’s for that matter.
How many sorrows Do you try to hide In a world of illusion That's covering your mind? I'll show you something good Oh I'll show you something good. When you open your mind You'll discover the sign That there's something You're longing to find The miracle of love Will take away your pain When the miracle of love Comes your way again.
The song is poetic in lyric and in music. There is something very powerful in carefully crafted art no matter visual, or performing. The miracle of love is something that goes beyond spoken word, beyond vibrating airwaves that come to our senses.
The miracle of love is something that is felt. It is beyond words or any perception of sense.
The miracle of love is there for the taking. Take it, feel it, and be it.
